Maggi Returns.....

Well, on the auspicious day of Diwali, the ever so famous junk food of India returns....!
Oh Yeah, It returned in style along with Laloo! So the title could also be Maggi returns and so does Laloo...but let me keep the title simple!

Maggi, maggi, maggi- Dating back to around 1995 when Maggi was a very expensive affair at home. Mamma used to threaten us, she would not buy Maggi in the monthly ration, if we do not behave well. Maggi was always a weekend affair at home! I used to wake up without an alarm, when Maggi was planned for a Sunday breakfast.

Peeling onions, cutting veggies, helping mamma was the little somethings that we used to get to eat Maggi. Each of us got 1 packet of Maggi and the second serving was always eyed upon. We always wished, appa would say a NO to the second serving, so we get some extra spoons of Maggi.

Oh no, we neither read what nutritional value it offered nor did Mamma worry about junk food then! Quite likely cos we did not have any more store bought food in the shelves, so we could do with 1 junk breakfast once in a month!

Fast Forward, newly wed couple at Kanpur, electricity always played hide and seek and the only saviour for dinners used to be Maggi. Thanks to the CSD's that offered it at a subsidized cost! Imagine, I had even invited people over for dinner and served them Maggi! ( Kadankaarinnu thitti irupaanga...but thats Ok)

Then started this era of mom of a toddler where like every mom, I wanted my kid to EAT. Yeah, you heard it right, EAT...SOMETHING. Maggi was my saviour again ( I know I know, I am judged but anything for my kid). A kid that did not want to eat anything was enjoying Maggi...Woah, So something was there in this Maggi ( Oh very recently, I came to know it was lead).

Chill winters, early morning breakfasts, sudden hunger pangs...maggi it was. When all was fine, came the news, Maggi was banned.... Nooooo....Most working woman's saviour, bachelors's friend, Kid's favorite....I could see people getting disheartened but what to do...they needed to act smart in Social media atleast! Very few genuinely agreed, they are disheartened with the ban while most of them suddenly got very conscious of junk food and its after effects ( ada paavingala, tea kadai bajjiya mukki mukki thinuttu, inga FBla scene).....

Ennavo po...Maggi returns. Naalaikku, going by tradition of Mom, enga veetla Maggi...Appo unga veetla???
